Thank you for your interest in donating to WSA’s Memorial Scholarship Fund!
Our Dale McCaskill, Sr. and Carl J. Austin Memorial Scholarships were begun in 2013. We are proud to have continued offering a scholarship of up to $2,000 in the name of each of these late sweeping industry icons since that time. Application eligibility is available to students who are pursuing any type of higher education (university, tech school and apprentice programs all qualify) and who are also ‘connected’ to a sweeping company in some manner.
Applicants may be children of employees (but not principals) and may even be current sweeping company employees. Although our ‘standard’ scholarship amounts are $1,000 each, if a winning recipient is connected to a WSA Member sweeping company the scholarship amount will be doubled, to $2,000. (Note that judges will not be aware of the company affiliation at the time of judging.) Since our scholarship program has begun, our non-profit World Sweeping Foundation has provided a total of $20,000 in scholarships to 11 different students. We would like to continue – and, ideally, expand upon – this program in the coming years. However, to do that we need your help. We have set up the PayPal link you see below for your donations. In addition to major credit cards, you may also donate from a PayPal account using the link. The entire amount collected from donations will go directly to our Memorial Scholarship Program. In addition, you will be acknowledged on the World Sweeping Association website, www.WorldSweepingPros.org, for your donation amount, as well as in a thank you email that will be distributed to the WorldSweeper.com email list. You will also be provided with a receipt showing your donation to our non-profit World Sweeping Foundation that has been set up to accept donations for this purpose.
In addition, we are soliciting donations for goods and services that we can auction off later this year. Especially if you are a supplier to the sweeping industry, we urge you to consider donating some type of products to this industry-wide cause. Again, we will acknowledge your contribution on our website and in our promotional materials.
